Additional Member Benefits
The AVMA member is at the core of everything the Trust pursues. Through our extensive experience and with partnerships with insurance carriers, we've secured additional member benefits for our insured members.
Take a look at the benefits below and ask your Trust consultant about securing them for your practice.
Risk Management Resources
The AVMA Trust offers an array of veterinary-specific safety resources designed to benefit you, your employees, and your practice.
Safety Training Modules
Available to your entire staff, these modules cover essential safety topics, including animal restraint and bite prevention, personal protective equipment, and accident prevention. Practice managers can track each employee’s progress.
Veterinary Safety Manual
This comprehensive guide was developed by veterinarians and risk-management experts to help veterinary practices identify risks, evaluate current procedures, develop and implement custom solutions, and then evaluate the effectiveness of those solutions.
Newsletters and Blogs
Monthly newsletters and blogs keep veterinarians informed about best practices and trends in the profession. Recent topics have included growing cyber security risks, tips for avoiding injury during animal restraint, disaster planning, and the importance of owner consent.
Safety Posters
Complimentary safety posters are available to order or download to display at your practice to promote a safe environment.
Emergency Recovery and Business Continuity Plan
Don’t hope—plan. These resources will help your practice prepare for, manage, and recover from an emergency or natural disaster. Use the Emergency Action Plan Model to develop a customized plan.
Hazard Communications
A Hazard Communications Program helps maintain a safe, healthy work environment by educating employees about chemical hazards and proper handling techniques as required by OSHA. Follow our template to create a custom program for your practice.
Observation Checklist
An Observation Checklist provides techniques to modify and improve behavior to reduce on-the-job incidents and drive positive change at your practice. Involve the entire team, including owners, associates, technicians, and practice managers to instill a proactive safety culture.
Job Safety Analysis
Learn to conduct a Job Safety Analysis. This process finds hazards associated with specific jobs and eliminates or minimizes them before an employee has a chance to become injured.
Recordkeeping and Reporting
OSHA requires practices with 10 or more employees to maintain specific records related to workplace injuries. Consult our FAQs to ensure your practice is in compliance with this regulation.
Client Consent Checklist
Obtaining client consent is essential to the practice of veterinary medicine. This checklist provides a framework for engaging in—and documenting—critical consent conversations.
The Hartford
Workers' Compensation
XactPAY®
This pay-as-you-go billing option relies on real-time payroll to calculate your workers’ compensation premiums. That means premiums are more accurate compared to using estimated annual payroll—making you less likely to pay more than you need to throughout the year. With this benefit, you also will experience no down payments, no monthly billing or finance fees, and fewer premium audit adjustments.
Shoes for Crews
Slips, trips, and falls are some of the leading causes of injuries—and workers’ compensation claims—in the workplace, often resulting in medical expenses, lost workdays, and extra strain on the whole team. Shoes for Crews offers discounts on slip-resistant footwear for your and your team. Discounts range from 15% - 25%, depending on the shoe you select.
Accurate Background Employment Screening
Your team members are one of your biggest assets. But if you don’t adequately evaluate new hires, you could face issues down the road. Through a partnership with Accurate Background Employment Screening, members insured through The Hartford have access to employment-related services at a discounted rate, including background checks, drug testing, and employment/license verification.
Herman Miller Ergonomic Furniture
Mounting medical evidence suggests that limited movement and poor workplace ergonomics can lead to health risks. Through an exclusive partnership with Herman Miller, members insured through The Hartford have access to special program pricing on high-quality ergonomic furniture and tools. These items can help reduce the likelihood of workers’ compensation and disability claims while boosting morale and productivity.
"The number of details and headaches involved in purchasing a practice is staggering, but the AVMA Trust made one part of the process very easy.
